Lovely image of a very shy snake. We have them in the garden sometimes, but they have only been spotted once.

Artist's Description

A female Adder displays her irritation at the cameras intrusion by 'puffing' herself up, stretching the skin on the top half of her body so that her scales move apart revealing the thin black skin below them.
Her excellent condition and coloration indicate that she has freshly shed her old skin and is now ready to feed and put on weight in readiness for her long winter hibernation.

As well as taking photographs I teach photography at all levels and also specialise in digital workflow tuition and colour management. My passion is really for landscapes and seascapes together with macro photography and my beloved Norwegian Sea Eagles.
